The Old Hà Nội Notebook Collection

Hà Nội really is a timeless city, and with this Notebook Collection, we want to celebrate the history of the amazing capital of Vietnam ! The designs are made of old pictures of Hà Nội that will take you back in time.

The Tram :

The tram in Hà Nội was built in the early 1900’s during the French colonization, and was based on the same model as they had in Saigon. Each tram could contain a few hundreds of passengers but, unfortunately, the company was facing some money issues. After a Golden Age between the 1970’s and the 1980’s, the lines got closed one after the other, and by the end of the 20th century, the tram did not exist anymore. Today, it is replaced by the many bus lines driving through Hà Nội every day, and the project of building a subway is even on its way !

Long Bien Bridge :

Amazing bridge built between 1899 and 1902 during the French colonization with materials from the surrounding regions. It has been bombarded during the war, so this bridge has been through a lot ! It is hanging over the Red River, and two different ways can be used by cars and scooters on one side, and pedestrians on the other, who can enjoy the amazing views from the bridge. It is a must in Hà Nội if you want to see the sunrise and the sunset !

Trà đá :

It is a traditional green tea in Vietnam that is usually served with a bit of ice. It is considered to be a street drink that connects everyone and is very popular here in Hà Nội ! Like most of the teas we drink in Vietnam, it is very good for the health and has some medicinal virtues, so feel free to drink as much Trà đá as you want !

Calligraphy Man :

Calligraphy is a big part of the Vietnamese culture – it is mainly influenced by the Chinese calligraphy rules, and follows some of them. Nowadays, Do paper is used for calligraphy because it absorbs the ink very well, and lasts for hundreds of years ! Zo Project organizes Calligraphy Workshops, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you want to know more about this ancient tradition !
